Annual Meeting
3:45pm · June 1, 2015 · Wareham Middle School

Annual Meeting is the yearly convocation of our Wareham Education Association, and an excellent opportunity to:

  1. Hear a summary of the work of WEA officers over the past year.
  2. Ask questions of WEA officers of past and future concerns.
  3. Share concerns and information with fellow WEA members.
  4. Hear and vote on proposed changes to WEA bylaws (see below).
  5. Become familiar with ways to help colleagues through the WEA.

  2. Votes on Bylaw changes
    • Appendix A - Stipends

"Conference Stipends: WEA members participating in one of the conferences listed below shall receive a daily stipend of up to $100 to cover documented expenses, with a cumulative maximum of $250 per event. The stipend will be paid upon presentation of receipts, and a report of the conference to the treasurer, describing the activities undertaken and attesting that the member was present for at least 3/4 of the duration. Other conferences organized by the MTA and/or NEA may be eligible for stipends upon a board vote. This section would take effect September 1, 2015.
      Conferences eligible:

      • Annual ESP Conference organized by the MTA
      • Annual Meeting organized by the MTA
      • MTA Summer Institute
      • NEA-RA (only positions not eligible for stipends from the MTA)"

Rationale: Adding to one's skills as an Association member should not come at a price. Many neighboring districts pay full price -- up to $300 -- for conferences such as these. This change would not take effect for any conferences whose registration is closed and in which members are going to participate.

  3. Member forum – questions and concerns
