Political Action

The Massachusetts Teacher Association has launched its "Legislative and Political Action Team" initiative. Commonly called "VotEducation" or "LPAT", the idea is that teachers can no longer allow legislators and lobbyists decide what public education should look like; educators should have a voice in this discussion. The LPAT idea is to ensure that educators use their voice to fight for laws that help public education, and work to endorse candidates who support public educators.

The LPAT program in Wareham is led by the WEA Vice President. The Political Action Leader coordiantes political action in Wareham with the statewide program, and its regional coordinator Kathi Rogers.

After the most recent election cycle, the Politcal Action Leader will organize educators willing to call, write, or visit lawmakers in support of pro-public education laws and policies, as endorsed by the MTA.
