WEA Vacancies

As the header of this site reads, we are stronger together. The WEA is at its strongest when every vacancy below is filled. These positions offer a variety of stipends and commitments, but all offer a way to help all Wareham educators better their practice and maintain their professional rights. Urgent Vacancies

  • Unit C Representative (1 vacancy): This position is filled by a member of Unit C, paraprofessionals and SLA assistants. They represent that unit at monthly board meetings and have a large role in organizing, especially given that this year is a contract year.
  • Building Representatives (1 vacancy): This position is filled by a member of any unit working at WMS. Their duty is to convey information between members at the building and leadership during and outside of board meetings. The position is stipended according to the number of board meeting attended and is named by vote of the WEA board. Training will be provided to individuals without prior experience. Duties include alerting members of events, taking notes at hearings with administrators, and providing the WEA Board with vital knowledge about events in the school. A stipend is paid of $33 for each board meeting attended.
  • PCEA representatives (3 vacancies): PCEA representatives attend meetings of our county association, participate in one PCEA committee, and convey information back to Wareham at WEA board meetings. A prominent duty is coordinating nominations of members for awards given by the PCEA and attendance at the annual banquet, as well as volunteer recognition ceremonies. The position is stipended by PCEA meeting attended and is named by vote of the WEA board.




In addition, volunteers are always welcome in the following groups that have only occasional meetings as needed. Some have limitations on number from each building, inquire for more information:

Academic ReviewDiscuss non-contractual issues such as curriculum, team-building, etc.
Communications Improve communications between leadership and members of the WEA.
Professional Rights and Responsibilities Ensure respect of contractual obligations by administration and members, and execute the process when those obligations are unmet.
Negotiations Discuss impacts of changes to work conditions and approaches to settling these issues with administration.
Health & Safety Discuss issues affecting members' and students' health and safety on school property.
Scholarship Raise funds and bestow merit awards to members' children and deserving Wareham graduates.
Ways and Means Plan social and professional events of the WEA, such as recognition of retirees or welcoming of new members.
Hearing Deal with very occasional disputes within the WEA. Appointment is by president with board ratification.
